Fruit Loops at the Playgroup!

Wow! Our first Explorers Academy Preschool Parent Playgroup event of the new school year was a great success! With the families of Teddy, Norah, Miette, Jules, new student Naomi and, of course Kisha's daughter Shelton in attendance among others, the Explorers enjoyed crafting colorful pictures out of Fruit Loop sand, glue, construction paper and crayons with teaching assistant and very talented resident artist Rae Stimson while parents and staff, including EAP Director Kisha Gandsy and Creative Director Amy Yurcan passed the time chatting about all things grown-up including food mags (Amy recommended her new fave Clean Eating to Naomi's dad Stephen) and sleep training. Kisha thought the grass might be greener indeed when she heard that Miette and her baby sister Elenore sleep until 9am most mornings!
We're incredibly proud of the program at Explorers Academy Preschool, but since only 26 full-time spots are available each year, many of them taken by incumbent families, we're thrilled to be able to offer a taste of what the students experience at our Friday morning enrichment classes at The Learning Garden at 186 Underhill Ave. In addition to the same teachers that the EAP crown see each week for our caregiver-and-me ballet class (Little Swan) course offerings this semester also include Yoga for Youngsters and Karate Kid. With movement classes new to The Learning Garden as the primary offerings, we've invited current EAP families, to attend complimentary sessions of each class to see what all of the hype is about. With instructors experienced with the toddler set who are experts in each field, we think Brooklyn may just have found it's answer to cabin fever for the cutest among its inhabitants! Check out the schedule at The Learning Garden to sign up for a trial class, gratis!
While Rae shared her artistic vision through the medium of breakfast cereal with the EAP students on hand at The Learning Garden on Saturday, Teddy and his mama were especially happy to meet Sam Pinkleton, babysitter extraordinaire, who lends his knack for song, dance and all things fun to NY City Explorers as both a party facilitator and sitter when he's not busy with his own crafts: directing, choreographing and performing. With Teddy's energy, amazing verbal skills and flair for movement, Sam might be the perfect choice the next time mom Meg needs a sitter for her little boy, and Amy was more than happy to introduce the group.
